Why This Choice Matters
Cricket All Stars currently has two officially licensed IPL franchises available in early access: Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Lucknow Super Giants (LSG). The licensing is genuine — both teams have accurate jerseys, real player names, and actual squad members represented in the game.
When you start the Indian Pro T20 League, you pick one of these two teams and play the entire season with them. The choice is not cosmetic. The squad composition, the batting order depth, and the bowling options differ between the two, and that difference is felt across a full season campaign.
This guide does not tell you which team to support as a fan — that is your business. It tells you which team plays better for which type of player inside Cricket All Stars.
Kolkata Knight Riders — What Playing KKR Feels Like
KKR in Cricket All Stars has a batting order built around aggressive scoring at the top. Their top-order players feel designed for players who want to put the game on with the bat in the first six overs. If your preferred playstyle is going hard in the powerplay and building a score from an early platform, KKR fits that approach.
The squad's batting depth through the middle order is solid but not exceptional. You will not feel badly exposed between five and eight in the order, but you are also unlikely to have the same fireworks from position six that you get from position two. The back-end batting supports the front-loaded approach rather than being an independent weapon.
KKR's bowling options in the game include pace options suitable for swing in the early overs and spin options for the middle overs on dry pitches. If you like controlling the game with the ball and varying your bowling attack over by over, KKR gives you enough options to do that without being thin anywhere.
KKR is the right pick if you like aggressive batting, want a recognisable top order, and prefer a proactive game style over a reactive one.
Lucknow Super Giants — What Playing LSG Feels Like
LSG plays differently. Their batting order is slightly more balanced across positions, with less concentration of firepower at the top and more contribution potential through the middle order. If you tend to lose wickets in the powerplay through aggression and need the middle order to rescue the innings, LSG handles that situation better than KKR.
LSG's bowling options in the game lean toward pace. Their attack feels stronger in conditions where short-pitched bowling is effective and weaker on spin-friendly surfaces. If you like bowling short, varying pace, and using the bouncer as a primary wicket-taking option, LSG's bowling attack suits that style.
The LSG jersey and kit presentation in the game is precise — the teal and gold colour scheme is rendered accurately, which matters to fans of the franchise.
LSG is the right pick if you like a more balanced batting approach, have a tendency to lose early wickets and rely on the middle order, or prefer bowling with pace over spin.

When Fan Loyalty Overrides Everything
If you are a KKR supporter, pick KKR. If you are an LSG fan, pick LSG. The gameplay difference between the two is real but not dramatic enough to override your attachment to a franchise. Both squads are competitive at Semi-Pro and Professional difficulty. Neither puts you at a serious disadvantage versus the AI.
The gameplay difference matters more at World Champion and Legendary difficulty where squad depth affects your ability to maintain overs and manage the batting order without losing wickets in clusters. At those difficulties, the squad choice has a slight effect on which situations you manage easily versus which ones feel difficult. But for most players at Semi-Pro and Professional, both teams play well.
What Happens When More Teams Arrive
More licensed IPL teams are expected after Cricket All Stars exits early access. KRAFTON has not announced which franchises are next, but given their investment in IPL licensing — including their publishing relationship with Real Cricket — expanding the team roster is a clear part of the product roadmap.
Once more teams are available, this guide will update with a comparison across all options. For now, the choice is KKR or LSG, and both are well worth playing.
